We live at a time in human history where technology has become the vanguard of endless possibilities, where human thinking has enjoyed freedom as never before. The internet has turned the world into this huge blanket that we all share, essentially reducing the world as we know it. These are both exciting and scary times, as uncertainty seems to loom in the horizon in spite of these many advancements that have catapulted man into this age of enlightenment. With all these seemingly grandiose developments, man finds himself a victim of an age old problem, a problem as old as man himself, asking the same question, again and again, “How can we be secure, how can I be secure’. Yes security remains at the heart of mankind’s proverbial nemesis, if not a conundrum by it’s very nature.
So what is security? It is freedom from doubt, anxiety or fear. We all desire security. Our lives are intertwined, if not GOVERNED by the need for safety and freedom from anxiety. It stands to reason then that a “prima facie” definition of security itself behooves a second glance from a more comprehensive look at security. It is far more than the physical which is probably what the average person would conceive, because physical security does not in itself define security in it’s entirety. Our whole way of life as humans bespeaks security, from Health care, technology, the legal system and even the food we eat. Our hope is that our jobs can provide these securities. It’s important to address these nobilities, because they are at the core of mankind’s comprehension of security.
